LT Update

Happy Thursday!

This session at camp we have an amazing group of leaders in training.  As many of you know the leadership training program is a three year program at Minikani which teaches core leadership skills and ultimately the trainees of are the future staff of camp.

They have been working extremely hard this session.  The LT 1’s have been waitering meals in the dining, helping in minikamp, teaching skills, and playing with kids during free time doing all sorts of fun activities.  Currently they are building a new archery range for day campers as one of their at camp work projects.

In the upcoming week and a half they will be planning LT games, which is the evening activity on Saturday night for the two weekers and explorers.  Also, they plan Chapel, which is a password held in Pine Forest on Sunday morning relaying a positive message to all.  Nest Tuesday the LT’s will be having takeover day where they plan the entire afternoon activities for a cabin group.  It is a great learning experience and helps them to gain confidence in the cabin setting.

On Wednesday the LT’s will be departing for their service trip to Door County.  This is a brand new aspect of the trip which the LT’s have worked throughout the year to plan.  They first chose the location and then looked for opportunities where they could engage with the community.  During the year they are asked to do service hours in their neighborhoods and at camp.  We have incorporated  service into our trip to bring more focus to giving back to those at camp and those in the community.  On this trip we will be helping at The Sunshine House annual picnic.  They are very excited and it should be a rewarding experience for all!

Overall, the LTs are working extremely hard around the clock to make this week a memorable experience for all kids.  They are loving every second and learning so much!

LT love,

Emily Dixon and Charlie Blumberg
