POWERFUL LEARNING EXPERIENCES
Explore five major habitats spanning 150 acres with your students at YMCA Camp Minikani. Our environmental education program provides children an experience that will:
- Teach the importance of ecosystems and humanity’s connection to the environment.
- Engage students to actively use our natural spaces and adopt sustainable practices.
- Empower students to embrace nature and new perspectives.
Our passion is to invite students to get their “hands dirty” in nature – whether that be by standing chest-high in the lake learning about aquatic ecology or exploring pine forest learning about ecosystems.
For a complete list of lessons offered click this link, or see our environmental education brochure here, or contact our Director of Education and Conferences at minikani@ymcamke.org or call 262-236-7564.
If you have a visit already scheduled, feel free to check out this sample packing list for an overnight trip to camp!
Environmental education programs are designed to meet age-appropriate learning outcomes established by the Wisconsin DPI* We offer a variety of lessons and activities. Our Emriver Stream Table and Enviroscape Watershed Models help students actively explore the interactions between water, land and human activity. Activities are adapted to the season in which you are visiting. We also offer overnight options for schools and professional food service. Our well-trained environmental staff are members of the Wisconsin Association for Environmental Education. Together, we share a mutual goal of promoting responsible environmental action.* The DPI Standards specify what students should know and be able to do, what they might be asked to do to give evidence of standards, and how well they must perform.
If you are interested in Live Animal programs through Wanakia Wildlife, please note that and we will be in contact with them to schedule a visit.
